About Us

          Central Cities Association for Gifted & Talented Children was established in 2020 by Patricia and AyiKwei Kimathi, who have bee been educating gifted and talented children in the Central Cities community for thirty years. For many years Patricia Kimathi served on the board of Central Cities Gifted Children’s Association. AyiKwei & Patricia continued their commitment to supporting gifted children.     

         Since1995, the Kimathi’s have owned and operated The Learning Tree Enrichment Center, and created a space where children and families do not have to leave their community to receive the support they need to improve their educational experiences and outcomes. The Kimathi’s have established the Central Cities Association for Gifted and Talented Children as a continuation of their long-standing commitment to providing educational support and advocating for equal opportunities for all children in the community. 

          In September 2022 C.C.A.G.T.C.  launched Roots & Wings, a publication for gifted & talented and 2E families, This newsletter is designed to strengthen underrepresented families of Central Cities G/T and 2E. The newsletter will provide parents with support and education as they raise gifted and talented children. 

            Objectives of the publication include increasing: 1) family functioning and well-being. 2) information and access to community resources and services for parents, and 3) parent information and training on positive parent-school interaction and involvement. 4) student identification and participation in G/T, creative, and advanced placement programs. 5) student performance/achievement through coordinated efforts by parents and teachers  6) parent involvement in the student's academic and creative achievement and school.Ttive leadership. This is a good place to show off who’s occupying the corner offices. Write a nice bio about each executive that includes what they do, how long they’ve been at it, and what got them to where they are.
